In 1974, Jean Amos Faver opened the doors of Starkville Real Estate, Inc. with a vision of building a company founded on integrity, professionalism, and personal relationships.
Her first office was a single room at 208 S. Jackson Street, tucked behind Jack Orr's insurance agency. With a shared telephone between the two offices and a determination to succeed, Jean laid the foundation for a business that would grow alongside the Starkville community.
As Starkville Real Estate, Inc. grew beyond its original one-room office, the company relocated to the Holiday Inn Building in Starkville. A newspaper announcement marked the move, signaling another chapter in the company's history.
From those modest beginnings, the company continued to establish its presence in the Starkville real estate market while remaining committed to the relationships and professional service on which it was founded.
And here's a little sign of the times: Although she founded and led the company, Jean Amos Faver was identified in the announcement as "Mrs. Neil Amos, Broker." Times certainly have changed!
In 1984, ten years after opening its doors, Starkville Real Estate, Inc. celebrated another milestone with a new name and a connection to the Coldwell Banker brand. What began as a small, locally owned business was now associated with one of the most recognized names in real estate.
The Coldwell Banker affiliation brought the strength of an established brand, expanded marketing opportunities, and access to a network extending far beyond Starkville. It was an opportunity to combine the personal relationships and local expertise that had defined the company from the beginning with the resources and recognition of a much larger organization.
The name may have changed, but the foundation remained the same.
More than five decades after Jean Amos Faver opened that first office on Jackson Street, Coldwell Banker S.R.E. Realtors continues to serve Starkville and the surrounding communities with the same commitment to integrity, professionalism, and personal relationships.
Today, under the leadership of Broker/Owner Michelle Amos, our team of 12 real estate professionals carries that legacy forward. While the buildings, names, faces, and tools of the trade have changed over the years, the values that shaped the company from the beginning remain firmly rooted in everything we do.
Our history is an important part of who we are, but it's the relationships we continue to build that shape where we're going next.
